An innocent beginning
In January I joined my friends Jason and Vicky in their weekly goal setting meetings, something they had been doing for over a year. I had a head full of ideas that were stuck as ideas, no action taking place. I figured that I needed some accountability in my life so, when they invited me to join them, I jumped at the opportunity.
Every Sunday night we would conference call and discuss our goals for the upcoming week, as well as how successful we had been in achieving the previous week’s goals. After the first two weeks of our meetings I noticed something amazing happening in my life: instead of just having ideas, I was actually carrying out actions. Every Sunday night I would feel true empowerment as I went through my list of goals and ticked each off as complete. Suddenly, my life was moving forward, and at a surprisingly fast rate.
An idea forms
As the weekly meetings continued and I was achieving more and more of the results I desired I realized that I was starting to enjoy the process of helping our group succeed more than I was enjoying the actual achievement of my own goals. This was an important “aha!” for me as I realized I had possibly found a new endeavor to undertake. I decided to start researching how to become a professional coach, and I decided I would start a blog to document my journey. I figured the whole process would take a few months, and then I would be up and running.
A funny thing about goal setting
It didn’t work out quite as planned, it worked out even better! With my weekly goals well populated with learning how to become a coach, and with the accountability and encouragement from my friends, a process that I had planned to take a few months managed to be completed in a few weeks. By setting my goals and, more importantly, being accountable to my goals I moved forward faster than I had ever thought possible. I have now been a student of the International Coach Academy since March 1, 2009 and am well on my way to creating my professional coaching career.
Sunday Night Success
This website, both the name and the concept, are a tribute to this group that I joined at the start of January. The Sunday meetings are an important part of my life now and continue to help me achieve what I desire. My hope is that, through this website, I can help other people to use goal setting and other success tools to improve their lives and achieve all of the results that they desire.
Welcome to Sunday Night Success!
