Ready, fire, aim.

February 23rd, 2009 § 0

I was recently in a bookstore and my eyes were drawn to a book with the title “Ready, fire, aim” by Michael Masterson and realized, without even reading the book, that this simple concept could radically change how I operate.

Research and Planning

You see, I am a research and planning sort of person. If I am going to buy a new product I hit all of the websites and read reviews, compare the product to all available products in the category, and spend countless hours weighing the pros and cons of choosing each possible product. It takes a great deal of time, and, in most cases something happens in the end that results in me quickly deciding on one item over another. All of that effort and still a quick decision in the end, the whole process does not seem to make a great deal of sense.

Starting a blog……waiting to start a blog

I have been in the process of starting a blog for about four months now. I have been to numerous blogging sites gathering my information: Problogger, Copyblogger, and becomeablogger being three of my favourites. However, I have gathered so much information that I have no real idea where to start now, and have forgotten more of what I learned than I remember.

Ready, fire, aim

So, after a lifetime of following the process of “Ready, aim, fire” and continuing to extensively research and plan my blog I am making one of my very first attempts at changing my operationg instructions. This time I am following the concept of “Ready, fire, aim”. Setting all of the research aside I have simply signed up for a free blog and I am starting to blog, I have fired. From here I will take what I learn, refocus, take aim, and figure out exactly what direction I will head.

Still with the research

This post needs to end now, I have surpassed 300 words, which, all of my research has shown, is putting me at the high end of what people are willing to scan in a blog post. However, the important thing is, I have taken action, and with this blog I hope to take a great deal more.
